Sound Knots and Dramatic Textures with Annika Lennox

This is an ongoing work-in-progress collaboration with Textile Designer Annika Lennox on a collection of dimensional textile surfaces that uses a range of techniques such as tufting, fringing, knotting, quilting and digital embroidery on fur to create dramatic volume and texture.

As Anika writes, “the project serves to target an audience of students that struggle with day to day insecurities and problems; whether this revolves around stress, depression or just generally being swept up in their busy technologically dominant lives.”

The collaboration looks at augmenting the textiles Annika has designed with electronic and digital capability, focusing on the sense of touch to trigger sound, vibration frequencies or light.
